Description

CADA consists of 8 members (6 fully trained audio describers & 2 who assist generally) in 2002; we obtained funding for the purchase & installation of infra-red equipment to enable us to offer a live commentary on live theatre performances, for visually impaired theatre-goers. This commentary given by a trained describer who keeps pace with the production, is inserted into the pauses in the dialogue & is relayed via a headset, focuses on all the visual aspects - facial expression, body language or any silent & unexplained actions, crucial to plot understanding. We aim to paint a picture, in the client's imagination to create a more fulfilling theatre experience. Notes on scenery, costumes & physical appearance of characters etc, are given BEFORE the curtain goes up and are the ONLY part of the commentary which is READ.
