How do I find a group?
There are two ways to find a group:
There is a free text search box on every page. You can use the search to look for types of groups in an area, for example, 'village halls worcester'. It doesn't matter if you use capitals or not. Or you can type the name of the group and if you know it, where it is based or what it does. For example, 'Community First malvern support voluntary organisations'. The more specific you can be about the group you are looking for, the more likely the search will be able to match your search with useful results.
If you only know the name of the organisation, you might prefer to use the A-Z search. Click the 'A to Z' tab at the top of the screen. Choose the first letter of the name of the organisation from the A - Z boxes on the page. If the organisation starts with a number, choose the 1 - 9 box (this only shows if there is an organisation on this page).
How can I add my group?
You can add a group by clicking the 'Add a group' button at the bottom of the home page. This will take you to an introductory page before the form required to add your group to the website. You will need to click the 'Go ahead and add a group' link at the bottom of the page. Each step in the form needs to be saved by clicking the 'Continue to next step' button at the bottom of the page. If a field is marked in bold, you must fill it in before moving on to the next step.
Once you have completed the form, you will need to wait for an email from Findgroups to let you know that your group has been approved. You will not be able to sign in until your group has been approved.
Why can't I sign in?
If you are a new user, you must wait for the email from Findgroups to let you know that your group has been approved. You will not be able to sign in until your group has been approved.
Can I change my group's details?
After you have been approved, you can sign in and make changes to your group's details and add news items to your group's page. To do this, click the 'Sign in' button in the bottom right corner of the home page or the 'My group' tab at the top right hand corner of every page.
Don't forget to use the email and password that was used to register your group.
On the My group page is a button to 'Edit sign in details' (to change your email address and password) or to 'Change details' (to change the information on the form that you completed to register your group). Both buttons can be found at the bottom of the page.
I've forgotten my password, what do I do?
If you have forgotten your password, click the 'My group' tab in the top right hand corner of the page. On the right hand side of the sign in page, is a link to 'Resend the sign in details'. Enter the email address that was used to register your group in the email field and click the 'Go' button. You will get an email with your password in it sent to the address that was used to register your group.
If you cannot use the email address that was used to register the group (that member has left or you have forgotten which address you used), you will need to contact Findgroups to ask them to change your email address and password.
I'd like to add some news to my group, can I?
After you have been approved, you can sign in and make changes to your group's details and add news items to your group's page. To do this, click the 'Sign in' button in the bottom right corner of the home page or the 'My group' tab at the top right hand corner of every page.
Don't forget to use the email and password that was used to register your group.
On the My group page is a button to 'Add a news story'. You will need to give the news story a title, then you can add some text in the Article box, and you can add a picture using Upload image (click the Browse button, find the image file in your documents, and click Open). The image will be resized to fit the box on the Group news page.
You can also 'View group news' to see the news that is on your group page. You can either 'Edit story' or 'Delete story' using the buttons beside the news story. You will be asked to confirm that you do want to delete your news story. Please note: once a news story has been deleted, it cannot be retrieved.
