Mentoring/ children and young People
What is the purpose of our Mentoring Service?
It has been stated According to government estimates, there are 4,500 troubled families in Birmingham, 2,500 in Manchester, and 1,115 in the West Midlands borough of Sandwell. Children and young people are unique humans and their behaviour often defies the logic that adults understand.
Prime Minister David Cameron’s pledge to ‘turn around the lives’ of Britain’s troubled families has been welcomed by Birmingham’s head of crime and communities.
Mentor's Vision- Age 8 years and over
Our Vision is a world where children and young people are empowered to make healthy decisions and avoid drug abuse.
Mentor's Mission:
Our mentoring programme make prevention effective and visible by targeting children and young people and those around them, as well as policy makers and practitioners working in prevention locally. Our aim is to identify, undertake, support and disseminate best promising practice in prevention. The project work reflects this and our focus upon other voluntary mentors.
Promote and Encourage
The Foundation believe that children and young people are able to make sensible, healthy
decisions and can take responsibility for their actions. We support
activities that encourage collaboration with community members and
involve young people in planning, delivering and/or evaluating these
activities.
Mentor’s Values:
Support and Prevent
The Foundation thoughts are there is a fundamental need to invest in preventing criminal activities, drugs abuse, preventing being with the healthy development of the child/ren in a nurturing family and a supportive community that ca offer both protection from risk and opportunities for children and young people to full potential.
The mentoring programme will be delivered to children through schools, youth clubs, and other places children meet; to parents and caregivers in their community; through those grass roots organisations; and through its work with partners in the business sector, governments and non-government agencies.
